Why this book?
For family members who are supporting loved ones in their homes or visiting regularly at an assisted living or nursing facility, this long good-bye can be exhausting both physically and emotionally.
There are four unique aspects to this book: an overview of what may be going on during this time as explored by Licensed Professional Counselor and bereavement specialist, Tia Amdurer; resources, suggested activities and coping strategies to help process and normalize this anticipatory grief and stress; the witty, wry and heartfelt writing and blog posts from Chris Renaud-Cogswell written as she cared for her mother in her home; and space for personal reflections.

I couldn't put this book down - it's essential and overlooked reality written with a kind and gentle humor. It's got the kind of information you wish your best friend could pass on. Everyone touched by death should have this as their guide.

The author did a great job of filling the pages with a friendly and warm tone. I found the book to be informative, engaging and filled with practical and reassuring information. She did a very nice job of inserting humor which I think all care givers need and appreciate. Good job! - Gayle L., former Fortune 500 Human Resources director, Denver, CO
I am on the final stages of closing my mother’s estate after five years of caregiving for my parents. Tia Amdurer and Chris Renaud-Cogswell’s new book provides comfort, practical hints, resources, emotional support and humor as caregivers take this often challenging journey.
If you are beginning this process or know someone else who is, I strongly suggest obtaining a copy of this book. It’s easy to read and is interspersed with endearing and humorous blogs from Chris Renaud-Cogswell’s experience as caregiver to her parents. Each is accompanied by practical and supportive advice from experienced grief counselor, Tia Amdurer.
I recommend this book highly.

This is a wonderfully readable book and as a counselor I would recommend it to any caregiver. I loved the balanced approach with Tia's calm and gentle strategies for coping and Chris's honest and sometimes funny entries. I found the idea of having a page after every chapter to record personal thoughts and ideas a great addition and a way to help relate the topics to one's own experience. - Susan Splitt, LPC, Westminster, CO
